At Painting for Pleasure art classes you will be encouraged to improve your skills and develop your own individual style in a warm and informal setting. Everyone is catered for individually within the group. Draw and paint from a variety of subjects/objects including still life, costume model, life model, portrait and landscape. Learn about line, colour, texture, form, shape and movement. You'll be part of a group of encouraging, friendly people - all levels welcome!
Enjoy experimenting with watercolours, oils, pastels, acrylics, charcoal, chalk, pen and ink, coloured pencils, gouache.
On your first day all you need is a sketch pad (preferably A2) and a few pencils (B, 2B, 3B, 4B).
Classes last for two and a half hours once per week. There are 2 options to choose from - Tuesday morning and Thursday morning. Life Drawing and General Painting Classes. The Tuesday morning sessions are Life Drawing and Painting classes for people with some previous drawing experience (intermediate level approximately - although all are welcome).
Work will be mainly from the unclothed model, but there will be a few sessions from a clothed model as well as portrait. Both short and long poses will be offered.
Life-drawing classes provide an ideal opportunity to develop your skills through direct observation of the human figure. It is hugely helpful even if your first love is still-life and landscape or other painting interests. View the enrolment schedule to find out more.
